CardPointers Review: Is the App Worth Paying for?

by | Nov 8, 2026 | Credit Card Reviews and Strategies

Every card in your wallet comes with its own credits, offers, and bonus categories. Keeping track of all of it in your head is tough, and a missed credit is basically money left on the table. That is the problem CardPointers tries to fix. Here is what the app does, what it costs, and who actually gets their money’s worth.

What CardPointers Does

CardPointers is an app that tells you which card to use for each purchase and keeps your card perks in one place. It covers 5,000+ cards from 900+ banks, and you add cards by name, so you never type in a card number or share a bank login.

Here is what it handles:

  • Best card for the purchase. It shows which card earns the highest rewards in each spending category.
  • Offer tracking. The browser extension adds offers from Amex, Chase, Citi, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and US Bank for you.
  • Credit and benefit reminders. Monthly, quarterly, and annual credits get countdown timers so they don’t expire.
  • Annual fee reminders. You log your approval date and get a heads up before the fee posts.
  • Chase 5/24 tracking. Handy if you open new cards often.

It runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Android, plus Chrome, Safari, and Firefox as extensions.

Free vs. Paid

The free version gives you the basics. CardPointers+ adds the features that save real money:

Feature Free CardPointers+
Best card recommendations Yes Yes
Offer tracking Limited Auto-add across all cards
Store and online notifications No Yes
Benefit and credit tracking Basic Full
Priority support No Yes

On the partner page, the annual plan showed $70 and the lifetime plan $200, with a 7-day free trial on the annual option. Prices change with sales, so check the page before you buy.

Does It Pay for Itself?

Here is a quick example. Say the annual plan costs $70, and one of your cards has a $10 monthly credit.

  • Forget that credit 7 times in a year, and you lost $70
  • That alone covers the app

Now add a few card offers like “spend $50, get $10 back.” Ten of those in a year is another $100. The app doesn’t earn that money for you, but it does make sure you don’t skip it. That is the whole pitch: it catches the small stuff that slips by when life gets busy.

Who Should Skip It

CardPointers is not for everyone. If you have one or two simple cash back cards with no credits or rotating offers, the free version (or a reminder on your phone) is probably enough.

It is also not fully hands-off, and that surprises people. Because it never connects to your bank, you check off credits yourself as you use them. That is the trade for not handing over your logins.

Who Gets Real Value Out of It

It makes sense if:

  • You carry three or more cards
  • Your cards have monthly or annual credits
  • You see Amex or Chase offers often and forget to activate them
  • You open new cards and juggle annual fee dates

What to Look for in Any Card Tracker

Before you pay for any app, ask a few questions:

  • Does it ask for bank logins? Fewer is safer
  • Does it remind you before a credit expires?
  • Does it cover the banks you actually use?
  • Is there a free trial?

If an app misses one of those, try a spreadsheet or calendar reminders first. Plenty of travelers do fine that way.

Keep Your Card Strategy Simple

CardPointers Review: Is the App Worth Paying for?

A tracker works best when the rest of your setup is solid. Start with tracking your welcome bonus spend so you hit each minimum on time. Then read through the travel rewards card mistakes to avoid, because forgetting credits is one of them. And if you want to see what your points can do, here is how Capital One miles work for travel.

Enjoy!!!
