Virgin Atlantic just launched a limited-time award sale for travel from the U.S. to the U.K. (London). For travel between May 20 and September 30, 2025, one-way economy seats are discounted to just 4,800 Flying Club points (plus taxes/fees). With the current Chase Ultimate Rewards 25% transfer bonus, you could effectively book these seats for only 4,000 points.

This is an incredible deal – one of the cheapest ways to fly to Europe with points that we’ve seen – but you must act fast. The sale lasts only one week (book by May 27) and seats are limited.

In this post we’ll explain how you can take advantage of this deal: by transferring points from your credit cards to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club and booking your flight.

Earn Virgin Atlantic Miles with Credit Card Points

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club is a partner of all the major U.S. transferable points programs, and every transfer is at a 1:1 ratio. That means 1,000 Membership Rewards, Ultimate Rewards, ThankYou, or Capital One miles become 1,000 Virgin Points. In other words, if you have points in Amex, Chase, Citi, or Capital One, you can easily convert them into Virgin miles and book these seats.

Here are some top cards in each program to earn points quickly:

  • American Express Membership Rewards: Use an Amex card that earns Membership Rewards. For example, the Amex Gold card earns 4× points on dining and U.S. supermarkets, and the Amex Platinum card earns 5× on travel. (Points transfer 1:1 to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.)
  • Chase Ultimate Rewards: The Chase Sapphire Preferred® earns 2× on travel and dining, and the Chase Sapphire Reserve® earns 3× on travel and dining. You can transfer Ultimate Rewards points 1:1 to Virgin Atlantic.
  • Citi ThankYou Points: The Citi Premier® card earns 3× points on air travel, gas, and restaurants. Citi ThankYou points also transfer to Virgin Atlantic at a 1:1 rate.
  • Capital One Miles: The Capital One Venture card earns 2× miles on all purchases, and the premium Venture X card earns bonus points on travel and transit. Capital One miles can be converted to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club (via Virgin Red) at 1:1.

With any of these cards, you can rack up points on everyday spending and then move them over to Flying Club. All of the above programs let you transfer in increments of 1,000 (and often require a 1,000-point minimum). In practice, check your points balance: if you have, say, 10,000 Ultimate Rewards, you can transfer all 10,000 to Flying Club and get 10,000 Virgin Points.

How to Transfer Points and Book your Flight

Once you’ve decided on dates and confirmed award availability on Virgin Atlantic’s site (see the award chart or use the “find flights” tool), transferring and booking is straightforward.

Log into your credit card’s rewards portal and look for the “transfer points” or “travel partners” section. Head into your credit card’s rewards dashboard and find the section for sending points to travel partners or transferring rewards.

Germany destination

If you’re using Chase, navigate to the Ultimate Rewards portal, then choose “Transfer to Travel Partner” and select Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. Holding Amex points? Open your Membership Rewards account and pick Virgin Atlantic Flying Club from the list of partners.

With Citi, you’ll handle the transfer through the ThankYou Rewards platform. And if your points are with Capital One, sign into your account, go to Convert Rewards, and choose either Virgin Atlantic Flying Club or Virgin Red to get started.

Transfers are usually instant or post within a day. After your points hit your Flying Club account, simply go to the Virgin Atlantic website and book your award flight. Search for one-way economy seats on your route (e.g. JFK–LHR) and your travel dates – make sure to look for “Award” or “Flying Club” availability.

You can book these awards through Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, a transfer partner of all the major transferable points programs. Select the flight, pay any taxes/fees with cash, and use your Virgin Points to cover the miles.

After transferring your points and booking the flight online, all that’s left is to pack your bags. You’ll have covered the entire base fare with just a few thousand points (plus pay the modest taxes/fees out of pocket).

Check Your Points and Fly to Europe with Points

This limited-time deal won’t last. We recommend you check your reward balances and start transferring to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club now. All the major credit card points programs convert 1:1, so it’s easy to see how many miles you need. For example, if you have 5,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points, you can transfer them and get a one-way ticket under this sale. If you have Amex MR, Citi TY or Capital One miles, do the same.

In short, transfer credit card points to Virgin Atlantic and get ready to fly to Europe with points. Whether you’re planning a London getaway or connecting onward in Europe, this is one of the cheapest award fares we’ve seen for travel this summer. Don’t miss out – book by May 27 before the sale ends. We hope to see you off to Europe on Virgin Atlantic soon!
